Why a round 48 mm deep

A round canvas breaks up the usual rectangle on the wall and draws the eye into the centre. The round canvas in pine with cotton is our deepest version: 48 mm, the painting stands almost 5 cm off the wall. The cotton (380 g/m²) goes onto the 48 mm pine stretcher triple-primed or, for your own ground, unprimed.

Use: pine stretcher 48 mm, 380 g cotton

In the round shape, pine with cotton is the most affordable version – right for acrylics, practice, classes and hobby painting. At 48 mm the painting becomes a wall object – especially from about 80 cm. The pine stretcher keeps weight and price down (Ø 80 cm for €156.00) and stays straight up to around 120 cm. Good subjects for this shape in pine: mandalas, flowers of life and other circular motifs.

Sizes and prices

The 48 mm round canvas in pine with cotton comes in 18 sizes from Ø 30 cm to Ø 200 cm, from €68.00. For comparison: Ø 80 cm costs €156.00 in this version. From Ø 130 cm we add a centre cross so the canvas stays true. Intermediate sizes on request.

Questions about the round canvas in pine, 48 mm

Can I paint in oils on the round canvas in pine? Yes, the triple primer takes oil. From about 120 cm – possible here up to Ø 200 cm – linen stretches less and is the better choice for oils.

Is pine enough up to 200 cm? Up to about 120 cm, yes. For the large sizes up to Ø 200 cm birch stays more stable; the round canvas at 48 mm is also available in birch.

Should I paint the 48 mm edges? Yes, it pays off: from the side the painting looks finished and needs no frame.

Frame depth 48 mm: Noticeably more substantial and dimensionally stable – even in large formats.

Round canvas with 48mm pine wood frame, cotton-stretched: Crafted in Germany Experience the quality of German craftsmanship with our round canvases. Manufactured in Chemnitz, Germany, each canvas is made individually to order with care and precision. Every piece is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity attesting to its uniqueness and quality.

Quality you can feel

Our canvases feature a hand-crafted round pine wood frame, known for its durability and stability. The stretched surface is a heavy cotton fabric at 380g/m², providing an excellent foundation for your artwork.

Sustainability meets fine art

Each canvas comes factory triple-primed in white, giving it a fine, resilient texture. This construction ensures excellent paint absorption and prevents flaking, so your work retains its quality over time.

Precision in every detail

The 48mm round pine wood frame prevents any warping, and together with the canvas stapled to the reverse all the way around, ensures a drum-tight stretch. A routed groove on the front face prevents the canvas from resting against the wooden frame, eliminating any give when painting.

Versatility that inspires

Suitable for acrylic, oil, gouache, tempera, and finger paints — our canvases are the right choice for a wide range of painting techniques. Available in diameters from 30cm to 200cm. If you require a specific size, please do not hesitate to contact us. Handstretched with care in Chemnitz, Germany.
