The deep frame for gallery-depth canvases

Canvases on 36 or 48 mm stretchers stand well off the wall. In a shallow frame they would stick out at the back – the 50 mm depth holds even thick canvases completely, so from the side you only see wood.

Shadow that shows depth

A narrow gap remains between canvas and frame. With deep canvases this creates a strong shadow line all around the picture, making it stand out three-dimensionally – the look you know from galleries and museums.

Stable up to 205 cm

The frame is milled from solid beech, glued and nailed at the back. Its depth makes it particularly rigid, so it keeps its shape even at very large diameters. Raw sanded you can finish it yourself; oiled with linseed oil it takes on a warmer, darker tone.

Size: canvas plus 5 cm

The size is the outer diameter. Add 5 cm to your canvas: canvas Ø 120 cm, frame 125 cm. Your canvas has a 24 mm stretcher? Then the 38 mm version fits – switch above.
